16th – 20th December
We rolled into Mui Ne around midday on the 16th. Laurence and Tom, who arrived a day or two before us recommended staying at Mui Ne backpackers, but they were full. A girl on the street suggested staying at Cocosand Bungalows, and the place was around $7 each, we got a bungalow with a double bed each and ensuite, air con and HBO.
We spent the days in Mui Ne hiring bicycles ($2) and checking out the beaches down the road, and the beachside pools and bars with Laurence and Tom. The main beach was just swamped by kitesurfing, which didnt really interest me. By night we usually went to Dragon Beach Bar, and DJ Station. The first night with Laurence and Tom, and a few nights later we met up with Kelly and Esther there, who we had originally met in Vang Vieng. They brought a few others from their guesthouse, including Helena and Annika who we would see in Saigon, and Vasco from Portugal, who we would see most of the way through Cambodia and Thailand.
To be totally honest, I didn’t really like Mui Ne. If you like kitesurfing its your place, otherwise its sort of boring. We spent as long as we did here because we knew we had a week in Saigon, and didn’t want to spend any longer there.
On our last night We pulled an allnighter at DJ station with Vasco. We found a Rob Schneider lookalike, and made our way back at sunrise to catch our bus at about 7am to Saigon.
