I flew into Luang Prabang from Hanoi, landing at about 6pm. My two friends from home, Jack and Pat, had arrived in Luang Prabng a few hours earlier, and booked me a bed at the same hostel. So I got the airport minivan to the hostel, checked in, and then went to see them at Utopia Bar.
It was really good to see them for the first time in more than one year, and we had one week together, firstly in Luang Prabang and then in Vang Vieng. In Luang Prabang we went to Kuang Si Falls and climbed up the mountain in the centre of town. Aside from that it was all about eating and relaxing. Jack and Pat had a few drinks and went bowling but during this time I was on antibiotics for my foot and also felt a bit unwell so I kept a pretty low profile. But it was my second time here and Jacks third, so we were happy to chill out most of the time.
In Vang Vieng, we went tubing and to the Blue Lagoon, and spent most of our nights at Sakura Bar partying with Koreans (Vang Vieng became really popular in South Korea after a Korean TV show was filmed there).
After five nights in Vang Vieng together, Jack and Pat continued South to Vientiane and I went back to Luang Prabang to get the boat up the Mekong river to Thailand.
